Bringing a Muni Train Control Board Back to Life

So I recently bought a Muni train control board that was used for opening train doors and such. I want to repair it and use it for something cool. 

It's a metal board with very sinple switches mounted on it, I'm want to rewire them to an arduino or somthing to control messages on an LED display, for example flipping the first switch will display "MUNI"
